What this "PSA" is all about
So you guys might have seen a previous post that had images referring to a specific assignment my partner (John Willard) and I are working on. It is an animation in the form of a Public Service Announcement that will go up to 35 seconds long. This is our junior project and we are following a graphic novel style. It will be a 2D animation drawn in ToonBoom and Photoshop and tied together in After Effects. We are hoping for a very impactful and intense message that comes from a beautiful piece. Neither of us want this to be a funny or light-hearted message. It is something we want to lay heavily on your minds. With that being said, I will tell you a bit about it.
This story will take place in a neglected Earth. There is nothing left of the old, green world. Trash literally is the make up of the rolling hills you see in the animation. Smog filled silhouette cityscapes as far as the eye can see. The sky full of reds and yellows even in the mornings. Then we see a wreckless man driving one of the world's top gas guzzlers down a highway. Avoiding both people and trash as he zips through traffic. He takes one last careless swig of his energy drink and tosses it out his window without a second thought. He hits something and hurdles to his death. He dies among the last remaining pieces of life in all the world. A couple measly trees and a mutated animal.
Lemme know what you guys think. We are open to suggestions and criticism. Color palettes, shot angles, compositions, the whole bit. If you've got an idea you'd like to see incorporated into this 30 second animation, please let me know.
I will keep you guys updated on our progress... Currently we are just in the timing and concept phase.
