Indie Game the Movie

So last night I watched Indie Game the Movie with my roomie and a couple other people on my floor.  It was so inspirational and so forceful in the way it presented everything to the viewer.  It made me want to work so hard that I would crack under the pressure.  These guys are heroes in their own right.  I don't know how long this inspiration will last, but I hope it goes on for a couple weeks at least.

If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend you watch it.  Even if your not an animator/game creator.  It's so great.

What this "PSA" is all about

So you guys might have seen a previous post that had images referring to a specific assignment my partner (John Willard) and I are working on.  It is an animation in the form of a Public Service Announcement that will go up to 35 seconds long.  This is our junior project and we are following a graphic novel style.  It will be a 2D animation drawn in ToonBoom and Photoshop and tied together in After Effects.  We are hoping for a very impactful and intense message that comes from a beautiful piece.  Neither of us want this to be a funny or light-hearted message.  It is something we want to lay heavily on your minds.  With that being said, I will tell you a bit about it.

This story will take place in a neglected Earth.  There is nothing left of the old, green world.  Trash literally is the make up of the rolling hills you see in the animation.  Smog filled silhouette cityscapes as far as the eye can see.  The sky full of reds and yellows even in the mornings.  Then we see a wreckless man driving one of the world's top gas guzzlers down a highway.  Avoiding both people and trash as he zips through traffic.  He takes one last careless swig of his energy drink and tosses it out his window without a second thought.  He hits something and hurdles to his death.  He dies among the last remaining pieces of life in all the world.  A couple measly trees and a mutated animal.

Lemme know what you guys think.  We are open to suggestions and criticism.  Color palettes, shot angles, compositions, the whole bit.  If you've got an idea you'd like to see incorporated into this 30 second animation, please let me know.

I will keep you guys updated on our progress... Currently we are just in the timing and concept phase.

Banjo Pigs

I got an assignment in my inspirational design class called banjo pig.  We needed to come up with two designs.  One we could do anything with.  The other, we had to do a "wood cut."  The top one is pretty self-explanatory; Qui Gon Jinn and Darth Maul Duel.  And the Lone Ranger.

I claim all of these images as my own and any unauthorized use of these images is strictly prohibited.

More Concept for PSA

The first three pictures are for the car in my PSA.  I wanted something resembling a Lamborghini, one of the world's top gas guzzlers.  So the pictures are labeled as follows:
     -Car Wreck
     -Car Interior
     -Car Exterior
     -Energy Drink Ideas
     -Final Energy Drink Concept
     -A Wasteland
     -Mutated Dog
     -Neglected Park (not being used)
     -Road Signs
-Wide shot of the Last Remaining Green
     -Final Shot

I claim all of these images as my own and any unauthorized use of these images is strictly prohibited.

Greetings

Hey all,

This is my first blog ever!  Pretty excited to get this thing started.  This will primarily follow my artistic ventures with a bit of everyday life.  I may even throw in a few gaming experiences to help supplement a slightly broader blog.  So anyways, my name is Daniel for those of you who don't know and I am currently in college for animation and some fine arts.  I hail from Huntington University at the moment and live on the best floor on campus, Wright 3rd!  I've got less than a year and a half before I graduate and start looking for work (kinda scared about that).  I tend to follow a more 2D approach in most of my animations.  I love 2D digital cutouts for hobbies, and would like to follow a career in digital 2D animation.  And I wouldn't mind having some 3D modeling on the side.  I love the fine arts and I'm pretty good at it if I say so myself.  Painting is probably my best medium, followed by drawing, sculpting, and then print making.

Currently, the games I'm playing a lot of are Magic the Gathering, League of Legends, Vindictus, Mabinogi and Minecraft.  Though, recently I haven't had much time for any of those because of my classes.  I'm currently in Junior Project, which is fairly intestive, and will only get worse.  And an awesome illustration class known as Inspirational Design.  I will be posting stuffs from both of those classes periodically throughout the semester, so keep an eye out!

Thats about it.

Thanks for popping in on my blog
